Summary:

This collection contains satellite-based landcover products for different regions of the United States. Individual landcover products are developed by different organizations, using differing methods, source data, and temporal periods. Generally these data products are generated using a combination of supervised and unsupervised classification of Landsat Thematic Mapper data. The spatial resolution is generally equivalent to that of Landsat data, 30 meters; but this may vary by landcover product.

Datasets:

NH GRANIT Landcover

This dataset was produced at Complex Systems Research Center, University of New Hampshire by the NH GRANIT GIS Lab. The product offered is a New Hampshire Land Cover Assessment, which categorizes land cover and land use into 23 classes. This landcover assessment is based on the classification of 12 Landsat Thematic Mapper images from 7/22/1996 to 12/01/2001.

The data are provided two projections: 1) NH State Plane Coordinate System with a 30 m pixel resolution, and 2) Geographic with a 1 arc-second resolution.

In addition, several specific gazetteer polygons for New Hampshire political entities and watersheds were developed to augment the spatial subsetting of this data set. More About NH GRANIT Landcover.
